Freedom Riders - Freedom Riders is an historical drama, set in the early 60’s, during the height of the civil rights movement. These brave folks set out, by bus, to force change by confronting segregationist policies in southern states. They purposefully put themselves in a position to be arrested for violating state segregation laws and thereby set the stage for court cases that would test the constitutionality of those laws. This play, presented by Mad River Theater Works dramatizes these events and gives us a look at the people who risked so much for their rights and the rights of all of the disenfranchised in the United States. Additionally, William Harbour, one of the original Freedom Riders, attended and shared his experiences with the audience. For more stories like this one, watch About Towne on ICTN.
