Irving's Delaware Creek Trail Connector Opens - Phase I of the new Delaware Creek Trail Connector project is complete and the second and final phase will begin later this year. Once complete, the 2.1-mile trail will link downtown Irving to Campion Trail at Mountain Creek Preserve, and wind through Senter and Fritz parks. Planning for the Delaware Creek Trail Connector began in November 2016 and construction started in February 2020. The connector is designed to serve as another Irving link in the planned Fort Worth-to-Dallas trail system. The project received funds for Phase I from the Transportation Enhancement Program, a federal 80/20 matching fund program administered through the Texas Department of Transportation. The project also was awarded a grant from the Dallas County Capital Improvement Program, designated for both Phases I and II. The balance of funds was provided by the city.
