2015 Juneteenth Celebration - Texas slaves learned of their emancipation from slavery on June 19, 1865 and created the holiday, “Juneteenth” in celebration.  The City of Irving annual Juneteenth event commemorated the 150th anniversary of the historic event, as well as the 50th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act.  About Towne’s LeTisha Nyembo attended and filed the story.
