Zestfest 2017 - Wherever you go in this world, you will find people who love hot food. Not the fresh from the oven pizza cheese that leaves blisters in your mouth, but the hot pepper kind. If you should go to the Irving Convention Center in early February you will find people who love the throat roasting, sinus blasting, eye watering, nose running, head sweating, gut ruining, shake inducing, I’m-out-of-superlatives kind of hot peppers that make the average person want to die. They are prepared and presented by cooks and sadists with names like The Execution Station and Elijah. They are purchased and eaten – by the GALLON - by North Texans with glassy eyes and heart palpitations. Susan Kamyab has an amazing tolerance for things HOT, and she attended this year’s Zestfest to meet some of these hot people. Here’s what she found.
