Movie Review: The Way Back - As spectators, we love sports for the excitement and athleticism of the players, we can appreciate the use of strategy and we can find heroes to admire and serve as role models. When we participate in a sports activity we learn life skills like working as part of a team, we learn sportsmanship which leads us to become better people, and we learn important lessons like: “we won’t win every time and it’s OK.” Filmmakers have long recognized how useful sports settings are as vehicles for their stories and messages. With his new film “The Way Back,” Ben Affleck explores a deeper and somewhat darker side of sports and how, sometimes, sports offer an opportunity for a new start. Cynthia Flores has this review of the film. For more movie reviews and critiques like this one, watch ICTN. For more information on ICTN, visit http://ictn.tv
