Texas Steel Guitar Jamboree - In the late 1800's a new technique for playing the guitar emerged in Hawaii. Musicians began using hard objects, of metal or glass, in place of their fingers on the fret board. This allowed them to make a smooth transition between notes. Now, over a hundred years later, this innovation has grown into the steel guitar. Once a must-have for country music, the steel guitar is finding it's way into mainstream music and the Texas Steel Guitar Jamboree, held here in Irving a couple of weeks ago, proudly highlights this versatile instrument.
